Most US species are trillers, only three species have a chirping song. Snowy, Riley’s and Alexander’s tree crickets have musical chirping songs. As with all tree crickets, the warmer the temperature the faster they sing. It is easier to count the rate of the chirping species. You can see the formula for determining the temperature by counting the numbers of chirps of the Snowy and Riley’s tree crickets here: https://orthsoc.org/sina/585a.htm
This is the song of a Snowy tree cricket with a temperature in the low 60’s.
This is the song of a Snowy tree cricket with the temperature in the low 80’s.
All of the following recordings were made with a temperature in the 70’s. Technically, making comparisons should be made at same temperatures, but the audio files below give one a general comparison to the differences in rates and patterns for species in the continental US. The files below do, however, have similar temperatures for each species group.
The rileyi species group.

The varicornis species group:
The nigricornis species group:
(ALL recordings below taken at temperatures of 76.0 to 77.0 F)
NEOXABEA BIPUNCTATA
For comparison, note the rapid rate of this O. forbesi in a temperature in the low 90’s.
This is at least three Forbes’ tree crickets singing in a small patch.
This is several Allard’s tree crickets chorusing in Nicaragua.
More than one species can be singing in an area.
