Thin-lined tree cricket was documented in extreme southern Texas back in the 1910's. The holotype, the specimen for which the species was described, was found in 1913 in Brownsville, Cameron County, Texas. It has not, however, been reported since.
Although not a new species, this male is the first O. leptogrammus recorded while singing. It was found in Nicaragua. [Note: Video will not play with Microsoft Edge]
This Oecanthus leptogrammus female was found on vegetation under a huge Guasimos tree near Granada, Nicaragua. Note the very thin line on the first antennal segment.
